Planner's comments
We had planned to rest Rivers Wood for a couple of year's following last October's SOG there but when our planned use of Borde Hill fell through at a late stage we had a ready made alternative just up the road, for which we must thank Simon Greenwood the owner and Kate Chapman the estate manager for allowing us to use at such short notice. Rivers Wood is always popular and despite it's relatively small size it has a wealth of contrasting areas, lots of features and a tricky track/path network. In my opinion small areas often allow for better courses than bigger area as the planner has to work harder to get in the distance and keep the course interesting without too much repetition. Many thanks to all of you who said they'd enjoyed it, it's good to know that all of the effort has been appreciated.
As usual, lots of people to thank, starting with Les Hooper for OCADING the courses. To Jaquie/Peter Drake and John Faller for the computing and for producing descriptions sheets amongst other things. To the rest of my family - Julia, Nicholas and Thomas for course checking, putting out controls and general on-the-day assistance. To Claire Teesdale and Katrina Reader for parking you all and to Andy & Judy Bridge for registration. To Tim Carder, Chris Hooker, Jane and Chris Lambert and friend for helping collect the controls at the end - that's always a great help and if there are any of our newer members reading this..... is something you don't need a lot of experience to assist with and is always really appreciated by our army of hard working event organisers. We were all packed up and gone by 1.20pm, less than an hour after the courses closed.
