Organiser’s comments
We were certainly lucky with the weather – sunshine, once you were up the top and out of the wind too.
Although there was quite a long walk to the start, I think Pat Maher was right to put the starts on the flatter area to make it easier to plan the junior courses and also give you chance to get to parts of Rewell Wood that you do not normally see.
The parking seemed satisfactory. Whether marshalling it would have improved matters I am not sure – it could have caused more distractions.
17 cub teams and 8 scout teams took part from eight of the scout groups across the Chichester and Midhurst District, a total of some 70 youngsters. Putting my scout hat on, I would like to pass my thanks on to the club for letting us use one of the SOGs for our district event and hope that the youngsters did not get in the way too much. The winning cub team (orange course) were 1st Selsey A and the winning scout teams were U12s (yellow course), 1st Southbourne A and U14s (orange course) 12th Chichester.
Thanks to Dave McTurk for manning the club registration, Miles Carey, Barry Jones and Jennie Pullin for looking after the computer, and to Ruth Rhodes and Peter Chapman for helping to collect in controls.
