Planner's comments
Thanks to everyone who came today; you were rewarded with ideal running conditions, good weather and fine autumn colours to match. Hopefully the courses lived up to it as well. I certainly received some very appreciative comments and no grumbles about brambles – in fact if you got tied up with brambles this time I suggest that you were well off line! I look forward to seeing some of your routes on Route Gadget: this program is great for analysing your own and other peoples performance, and this applies just as well to planning.
It was nice to see new faces and more young people. Particularly noticeable this time was the interest shown by the non-orienteers out for a walk – good opportunity here for a bit of promotion of the sport.
Many thanks to all the helpers, especially Mike as organiser, course checker and control placer and collector, Chris and Mike for map corrections and printing, Claire for map sales and Jaquie and Peter for results, helped by Jane and Chris on the computer.Also special thanks to Tom and Malcolm for helping with control collection after the event; this is something that is always very much appreciated.
