Planners' Comments

Goodwood offers a variety of open woodland running, some tricky vegetation areas and a good variety of terrain. I hope you managed to conquer them all!
We hope you all found the courses challenging, both physically and mentally. From the comments received at the finish – most of you did. There was considerable debate at the start between competitors for route choice for Blue and Green first control - hope you all made the right decision!
With a narrow area on part of the map it meant 2 parts for the blue course to aid clarity.
Apologies to some of you on the Blue and Green courses who had to wait a few minutes at the start – all due to the excellent turn out.
We had many helpers before and on the day. Our thanks go to Steve Jarvis for checking the courses, to Miles Cary and John Faller for the computing bit, (in the Drakes' absence) , Ashley Warner on map sales and Dave White, John Pullin and Simon Thraves for collecting controls at the end. Thanks also to Mike Gammon for his help with the map and the printing.
I understand that the ‘out of bounds‘ area to the south of the map may one day be used for orienteering. This would open up an excellent area to plan and run. Rumours were one or two inadvertently tried it out today!
With a small army of collectors at the end, we were packed up and gone by 1.30.
