Hope you all enjoyed the first evening event of the year. Controls 9 and 12 may not have been exactly where they were supposed to be, but most legs seem to have caught at least someone out. When I devised the exercise, my intention was to discourage following by having runners on different legs approach controls in the same blocks of woodland from different directions.
But my one and only site visit (in shorts) revealed that nettle growth had severely restricted the potential routes into and out of the trees and I had to compromise. I could also have made the ‘windows’ smaller and given the stronger runners a more interesting challenge, but broken fences and ditches concealed by the summer growth persuaded me to leave most of the woodland boundaries on the map for safety reasons.
